Triumphant Conclusion in Vienna

Alan Gilbert and the Orchestra conclude their three-concert stint at the Vienna Konzerthaus with works by The Marie-Josée Kravis Composer-in-Residence Christopher Rouse, Mozart, and Musorgsky. The performance brings the EUROPE / SPRING 2013 tour to a close, and the musicians head to New York to resume performing for their hometown audience.

Arrival and Two Concerts in Vienna

The Philharmonic arrives in Vienna, the final stop of the EUROPE / SPRING 2013 tour, to commemorate the centennial of the Vienna Konzerthaus. Joshua Bell and Emanuel Ax join Alan Gilbert and the Orchestra for two of the three concerts in the city of music.

Dortmund and Berlin

The EUROPE / SPRING 2013 tour has embarked on its German leg. Emanuel Ax joined the Orchestra for concerts in Dortmund and Berlin, and a quartet of Philharmonic principal players were musical emissaries at the U.S. Ambassador to Germany’s Berlin residence.

Grandeur and a Groundbreaker in Dresden

This week the Orchestra traveled to Dresden for two concerts, each with a very different flavor. The first featured Mozart, Bloch, and Musorgsky at Dresden's grand Semperoper. The second, Webcast live around the world from Volkswagen's Transparent Factory, featured Magnus Lindberg's theatrical, out-of-the-box Kraft,as well as Christopher Rouse's Prospero's Rooms and Bernstein's Serenade with violinist Joshua Bell.

Zurich, Munich, and Essen

Three concerts in three days makes for a lot of travel — and music! Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic team up with violinist Joshua Bell in Zurich and Munich, and reunite with The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Emanuel Ax in Essen.

The Tour Continues in Istanbul and Zurich

Emanuel Ax and Joshua Bell join the Orchestra during its first return to Istanbul in 18 years, and the New York Philharmonic Brass Quintet kicks off the Orchestra's Zurich appearances with a free public concert.

The Tour Begins with the Debut in Izmir

After a 5,000-plus-mile journey from New York City to Izmir, Turkey, plus a day of warm-up and a bit of sightseeing, Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic open the EUROPE / SPRING 2013 tour.
