The week of August 15 marked another thrilling milestone in the New York Philharmonic’s long-awaited return to its home in the new David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center. Music Director Jaap van Zweden led acoustic tuning rehearsals, giving the brand-new Wu Tsai Theater a trial run.
Not only were van Zweden and the musicians able to get a first taste of their new home; the four days of sessions provided feedback to the acousticians committed to a sound that is nothing short of first-rate by October, when concerts begin. As Principal Clarinet Anthony McGill put it: “I think everyone is going to be pleasantly surprised and excited about the hall. I can’t wait to open the season.”
Enjoy this sneak peak of what lies in store for the NY Phil and our audiences!
