Concertmaster Frank Huang Leads Shanghai Orchestra Academy String Festival

Posted June 29, 2017

The New York Philharmonic just landed in Shanghai for its third annual performance residency as part of the Shanghai Orchestra Academy and Residency Partnership, July 2–8. One musician is already at work. Concertmaster Frank Huang arrived early to lead the Shanghai Orchestra Academy String Festival, in conjunction with the concertmasters of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra.

Frank taught master classes, co-presented a lecture on the role of the concertmaster alongside Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Concertmasters Pei Li and Guillaume Molko, and led from the violin an ensemble of members of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Orchestra Academy students, and other students from around China in a performance of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings.

Check back here on July 5 for more photos from the residency.
