Backed by the scenic Colorado Rockies, the New York Philharmonic returned for its 15th annual summer residency at Bravo! Vail, celebrating its 30th anniversary. The six-concert residency celebrated the Philharmonic’s 175th anniversary and Music Director Alan Gilbert’s tenure. The Music Director led our very own Concertmaster Frank Huang, Philharmonic friend Daniil Trifonov, Artist-in-Association Inon Barnatan, a World Premiere by Julia Adolphe, and Mahler’s Seventh and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphonies. Conductor / raconteur Bramwell Tovey returned for an all-American program, the New York Philharmonic String Quartet made its Bravo! Vail debut, Philharmonic musicians worked with the Very Young Composers of Vail — and we announced that the residency will go on for another five years.
