New York Philharmonic Percussion on the Road

Posted April 05, 2017

New York Philharmonic Principal Percussion Christopher S. Lamb had to combine logistics with virtuosity during the Orchestra’s residency at the Barbican Centre in London, which featured works with large percussion complements, including Esa-Pekka Salonen’s Cello Concerto and music by John Adams. On April 2, 2017, he spoke onstage and off about the challenges of setting up all their instruments, and then joined Alan Gilbert and Yo-Yo Ma in the European Premiere of the Salonen work.
