The New York Philharmonic made its debut at the newly opened Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, where Alan Gilbert led acclaimed performances of music by Composer-in-Residence Esa-Pekka Salonen with Yo-Yo Ma, Mahler with Christina Landshamer, and John Adams with the New York Philharmonic String Quartet, which also performed a late-night chamber concert.
