Alan Gilbert Replies to World Series Challenge

Posted October 28, 2015

We’ve been Royally challenged. And Alan Gilbert has Met that challenge.

Yesterday the Kansas City Symphony laid down the gauntlet by video message: if our Mets win the World Series (ahem, WHEN they win...), Kansas City Symphony music director Michael Stern promised, the Kansas City Symphony will send us famous KC barbecue and will perform New York, New York on a future concert. But if their Royals win, Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic would have to send NYC’s finest bagels and lox and to perform Everything’s Up to Date in Kansas City.

New Yorkers aren't afraid of a challenge. Today Philharmonic Music Director Alan Gilbert sent back a YouTube message: we accept the terms and are upping the ante. When the Mets win, in addition to a Mets jersey, Michael Stern will wear special Mets headgear when he conducts the Kansas City Symphony in New York, New York. We look forward to seeing whether he goes blonde or brunette...

Game on! Let's Go Mets!
