The NY Phil’s Advisory Council is a distinguished community of Leonard Bernstein Circle donors committed to supporting the New York Philharmonic through active participation that spurs impact across key facets of the organization. Advisory Council members help to shape a vibrant future for the Philharmonic by serving as philanthropic leaders and ambassadors in the community, and by engaging with executive leadership in strategic initiatives that bolster organizational growth and its visionary programs.

New members of the Advisory Council are nominated and elected by Council leadership, Philharmonic Board leadership, and staff on a rolling basis. Each member serves a 3-year term with an opportunity to renew. Through dedicated involvement in the Advisory Council, members may consider or be considered for Philharmonic Board service while also helping to cultivate new, younger, and more diverse supporters and candidates for the Board.

Active members of the Advisory Council are strongly encouraged to:

  • Attend Council Meetings and other organized performances and activities in New York City.
  • Prioritize the Philharmonic in terms of committing time and financial resources consistent with other primary civic and philanthropic interests.
  • Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the New York Philharmonic to their personal communities and in their respective professional industries.
  • Work with the Philharmonic to build funding through corporate partnerships and activities.
  • Commit to supporting one or more NY Phil seasonal galas, including the Fall Gala, Lunar New Year Gala, Spring Gala, and other special events, by purchasing tickets or a table.
