The New York Philharmonic’s Advisory Council is a distinguished community of Leonard Bernstein Circle donors who offer their time, resources, and leadership skills to advance our Orchestra. Advisory Council members help secure a vibrant future for the Philharmonic by serving as philanthropic ambassadors in the community, working closely with executive leadership to support organizational growth and sustain our excellence on and off the stage. Council members receive Leonard Bernstein Circle benefits at the corresponding giving levels.

New Advisory Council members are nominated and elected by Council leadership, Philharmonic Board Members, and staff on a rolling basis. Each member serves a three-year term with an opportunity to renew. Through dedicated involvement in the Advisory Council, members may consider joining the Board while also helping us cultivate new, younger, and diverse candidates for the Board.

Advisory Council members:

  • Attend Council meetings and other organized performances and activities in New York City
  • Prioritize the Philharmonic among their civic and philanthropic interests, chiefly committing their time, financial resources, and advocacy to our Orchestra
  • Serve as active ambassadors for the Philharmonic in their personal and professional communities
  • Work with the Philharmonic to fundraise through institutional partnerships and activities
  • Commit to supporting one or more NY Phil seasonal galas — including the season Opening Gala, Lunar New Year Gala, and Spring Gala — by purchasing tickets or a table
