Important Update: The November 14, 2022, Artist Spotlight concert has been cancelled. Bass-baritone Eric Owens, who had been scheduled to be featured in that concert, has withdrawn due to illness. The rest of the 2022–23 season’s Artist Spotlight series is unchanged. We apologize for the inconvenience.

    Bass-Baritone

    Bass-baritone Eric Owens has a unique reputation as an esteemed interpreter of classic works and a champion of new music. This season he returns to The Metropolitan Opera as both Philippe II in David McVicar’s new production of Verdi’s Don Carlos, conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and Porgy in James Robinson’s acclaimed production of the Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess. He also returns to Santa Fe Opera as King Marke in Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde. In concert, he joins The Philadelphia Orchestra for Beethoven’s Missa solemnis, also conducted by Nézet-Séguin, and sings Vodnik in Dvořák’s Rusalka with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, led by Alan Gilbert.
