Set designer Matt Saunders’s recent Off Broadway work includes Daddy (The New Group and Vineyard Theatre), Pipeline (Lincoln Center Theater), Venus (Signature Theatre), Thunderbodies (Soho Rep), Futurity (Soho Rep and Ars Nova), Good Person of Szechwan (The Foundry Theatre and The Public Theater), and The Tempest (The Public Theater at The Delacorte Theater). His recent opera work includes Daniel Bernard Roumain’s We Shall Not Be Moved (Opera Philadelphia and Apollo Theater), Du Yun’s Angel’s Bone (Prototype), and Janáček’s Káta Kabanová (Spoleto Festival USA). His 100+ regional credits include projects at the Guthrie Theater, Mark Taper Forum, Huntington Theatre Company, Long Wharf Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Yale Repertory Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis, Wilma Theater, and the Kennedy Center. Mr. Saunders received an MFA from the Yale School of Drama. He is a Pew Fellow in the Arts and a Hodder Fellow at Princeton University, associate artistic director of New Paradise Laboratories, and associate professor of design at Swarthmore College.
