Maarten Warmerdam and Floriaan Ganzevoort collaborate on the lighting design for this production. Together they founded the THEATERMACHINE, an Amsterdam-based light design company for theater, exhibitions, and architecture. The company was created by the two designers out of their mutual fascination for contextualizing light design. Designs by Theatermachine aim to be an inextricable part of the performance or project as a whole.
Mr. Warmerdam and Mr. Ganzevoort have worked for Dutch National Opera, La Monnaie Brussels, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Ruhrtriennale, Opera Montpellier, Lille Opera, Wrocław Opera, and Opéra du Rhin. They have worked for various composers and directors including Louis Andriessen, Guy Cassiers, Jonathan Dove, Heiner Goebbels, Sjaron Minailo, Oliver Mears, Krystian Lada, Marcel Sijm, Michael Gordon, and Karlheinz Stockhausen.
Museum and architecture projects include Base Exhibition at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam with OMA / AMO and Rem Koolhaas; the Swarovski Kristallwelten park with CAO|PERROT Studios in Austria; and the exhibitions Midsummersday 1860 at Amerongen Castle in the Netherlands, Obedience at the Jewish Museum Berlin, and Sex and the Sea in Denmark for Peter Greenaway and Saskia Boddeke.
