George Daugherty has conducted more than 150 American and international orchestras, led performances for numerous major ballet and opera companies, and earned numerous awards, including a Primetime Emmy Award and five Emmy nominations, for his work in television and film. He made his New York Philharmonic debut in 2015 and his Boston Pops debut in 2017, and he has frequently conducted the Los Angeles Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, and Cleveland, Philadelphia, and Minnesota orchestras. He has been a frequent guest conductor with San Francisco Symphony since 1998, often conducted at the Sydney Opera House and with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra (with whom he has also recorded), as well as the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra in London and on international tour with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. Mr. Daugherty has also conducted the symphony orchestras of Dallas, Houston, Seattle, St. Louis, Utah, New Jersey, Baltimore, Montreal, Milwaukee, Buffalo, Vancouver, Toronto, Atlanta, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Louisville, Winnipeg, Columbus, Edmonton, North Carolina, Charlotte, Delaware, Phoenix, Grant Park, Colorado, Austin, and San Diego, as well as the Rochester Philharmonic, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Calgary Philharmonic, Pacific Symphony, and numerous others. His international appearances include the Danish National, Moscow, West Australia, Melbourne, and Adelaide symphony orchestras, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Ireland’s RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia, Orquesta Sinfonica de Venezuela, and New Japan Philharmonic, as well as concerts in the Mexico City Bellas Artes Opera House and the Italian opera houses of Rome, Florence, Torino, and Reggio Emilia. He has led performances for scores of renowned ballet dancers over four decades, and has conducted for American Ballet Theatre, Bavarian Staatsoper Ballet, La Scala Ballet, and Teatro Regio Torino. He has been music director of Ballet Chicago, Chicago City Ballet, Louisville Ballet, and Ballet San Jose. He was appointed music director of Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo in 2016. George Daugherty received a Primetime Emmy as executive producer of ABC’s animation-and-live action production of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, which he also directed, wrote, and conducted, and for which he was also nominated for Outstanding Music Direction. He also received an Emmy nomination for his ABC music education series Rhythm & Jam. Mr. Daugherty collaborated with David Wong in creating Bugs Bunny on Broadway in 1990, which was followed by Bugs Bunny at the Symphony (2010) and Bugs Bunny at the Symphony II (2013), concerts that have played to millions of people worldwide.
