Opera and theater director Elkhanah Pulitzer — currently artistic curator for SF Opera Lab, an intimate, experimental programming branch of San Francisco Opera — has passionately pursued her interest in storytelling since she was a girl, following childhood impulses to “stage” toys, environments, and people. Ms. Pulitzer has directed opera projects with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Los Angeles Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Opera Theater of Saint Louis, West Edge Opera, and Canadian Opera Company, among others. Outreach opera projects include work with Washington National Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Boston Lyric Opera New England, SF Opera Lab, and Opera Omaha. Ms. Pulitzer’s theater directing credits include work with Impact Theater, Cutting Ball, Riverside Theater, and Ensemble Theater Company. Additionally, she wrote the libretto for Dream of the Pacific, an original opera about Lewis and Clark with music by Stephen Mager, which was honored with an Opera America Success Award.
