Projects and Special Events
Beginning with its annual Opening Night Gala benefit for 1,000, the New York Philharmonic holds numerous special events throughout each season to raise funds for the Philharmonic or to acknowledge and cultivate donors. These events present opportunities for volunteers, to assist the Department of Special Events in various areas that may include invitation mailings, logistics and publicity.
Donor Cultivation and Recognition
- Patron Lounge: Volunteers greet Patrons in the Patron Lounge before evening concerts and intermissions.
- Friends Coffee Bar: A privilege for Friends of the Philharmonic, Coffee Bars occur prior to designated Wednesday or Thursday morning Open Rehearsals. Volunteers perform a variety of hosting functions.
- Parks Concerts: These free mid-summer concerts utilize volunteers in a variety of ways.
- Borough Parks: Volunteers assist the New York Philharmonic Marketing Department with a promotional campaign to advertise these concerts.
- Central Park: These concerts require a volunteer force to distribute programs in the park and to act as hosts to the public and invited guests.
- Gift Kiosk: The Philharmonic Gift Kiosk is located on the Grand Promenade of Avery Fisher Hall. It is open one half hour before concerts, during intermission, and at open rehearsals. Volunteers assist with purchasing, sales, scheduling, pricing and inventory.
