Be Part of a Longstanding Tradition: Support the Philharmonic Endowment
The Endowment Fund of the New York Philharmonic was established in 1911 by Joseph Pulitzer to ensure the financial security of our Orchestra for future generations. Since then, many devoted concertgoers have contributed to the Endowment, which continues to provide a vital and steady stream of income to support our numerous programs and activities. We invite you to explore how you can make a meaningful gift to support the ongoing excellence of America’s premiere symphony orchestra.
Orchestra Chairs
By endowing an Orchestra chair, you help the Philharmonic to attract and retain the most gifted musicians in the world. Orchestra chairs may be endowed for ten or twenty-five years.
“It was a fitting tribute to the memory of my late husband to endow the chair of the Orchestra’s Principal Harp. I have long admired Nancy Allen’s music and I am honored to support her artistry.”
Education Programs
The Philharmonic is nationally renowned for its music education programs. Your gift can ensure that our programs continue to reach students and educators in the concert hall, in classrooms, and online.
“Our gift to the Endowment established a Teaching Artist Fund which we hope will enrich the musical lives of young people for many years to come.”
Restricted Endowment Funds
Many donors have endowed programs that are dear to their hearts. The Daisy and Paul Soros Endowment Fund for guest conductors and the Francis Goelet Endowment Fund for commissioned works are just two examples.
Unrestricted Endowment Fund
The Philharmonic relies on the Unrestricted Endowment Fund to sustain a full range of programs and activities. Your gift will allow the Philharmonic to apply your funds where the need is greatest.
Avery Fisher Hall Seat Plaques
Imagine having a presence in Avery Fisher Hall. Endow a seat in our concert hall and have a brass plaque engraved with your name!
“When you name a chair, you can never miss a concert. My chair, named for my family, lets me feel I can always be in the hall – in person and in spirit.”
