Sponsorship Opportunities: Education Programs

The Philharmonic works diligently to engage new audiences and new generations in the living tradition of great concert music. Philharmonic education programs impact more than 60,000 children, students, educators, and adults. In the concert hall, in the classroom, and on the Internet, the Philharmonic opens doors for people of all backgrounds.

  • Young People's Concerts®: The longest-running series of children's concerts in the world, made famous by the legendary Philharmonic Music Director, Leonard Bernstein. Over the course of this four-concert series, children, ages 6 to 12, follow an over-arching musical theme while they explore the inner-workings of the symphony in a format that is interactive, visual and easy to grasp. Kidzone Live!, an interactive music fair, precedes every Young People's Concert® and is tailored to the afternoon's concert program.
  • Very Young People's Concerts: Designed by New York Philharmonic musicians, these engaging concerts introduce pre-schoolers to both musical ideas and concert-going through musical games, storytelling, and performance.
  • Kidzone! (nyphilkids.org): The award-winning interactive Website for kids. Kidzone! offers a rich variety of games and activities that are designed to introduce children to the orchestra and music fundamentals. With visitors from all 50 states and more than 70 countries, the scope of Kidzone's impact is far-reaching.
  • School Partnership Program: A sequential three-year music curriculum for grades 3 – 5, which has become a model for orchestras worldwide. Philharmonic musicians and teaching artists make the world of symphonic music come alive by partnering with classroom and music teachers in schools across New York City. Interactive workshops include instruction in listening, performance on recorders and percussion instruments, and group composition. Students also attend concerts in-school and at Avery Fisher Hall.
  • School Day Concerts: Schools from across the region come to Avery Fisher Hall for concerts designed specifically to introduce elementary and secondary school students to the symphony orchestra, important symphonic works, living composers, and musical fundamentals. Teachers receive advance lesson plans, complete with a CD, and free workshops to help them prepare their students.
