The New York Philharmonic offers School Day Concerts during the school year, designed especially for a student audience.
Musical Encounters introduces students grades 4-12 to the basics in a one-session visit: What is music? What is an orchestra? What does a conductor do? Students get to see and hear the New York Philharmonic in action by attending a working rehearsal.
This nationally recognized program builds long-term relationships between the New York Philharmonic and select public schools in New York City.
Students can attend the final rehearsal for a concert and witness the hard work that goes into coordinating the sounds of 106 different musicians and their instruments.
