New York Philharmonic: Open Rehearsals

Open Rehearsals

Students in grade 6 and above are invited to join members of the general public in observing the final rehearsal for a concert of the New York Philharmonic. Open Rehearsals begin at 9:45 AM (except where noted) in Avery Fisher Hall, and end at approximately 12:30 PM (sometimes extending to 1 PM, at the discretion of the conductor). One adult chaperone is required for every ten students.

An Open Rehearsal is a fascinating opportunity to watch the New York Philharmonic at work, and see how a piece of music is shaped and polished by the conductor and the musicians. Tickets are $16 each and can be ordered online, by mail, by fax, or in person at the Avery Fisher Hall Box Office. Please note that a $2.00 per ticket convenience fee is charged for all online orders.

Prior to each selected Open Rehearsal, indicated throughout the season calendar, Friends and Patrons may enjoy complimentary beverages and light refreshments at the Philharmonic Coffee Bar located on the Grand Promenade from 9:15 AM to 9:45 AM, unless otherwise stated.
