
Touring
The universal language of music is at its most eloquent in the hands of the virtuosos of the New York Philharmonic, one of the nation's most highly visible and respected cultural ambassadors. As of December 31, 2006, the Philharmonic had performed in 420 cities in 58 countries on five continents.
The Orchestra's next tour is in May 2007, when it will visit European musical capitals, including Warsaw, Budapest, and Vienna. Review previous tours:

Japan Korea 2006
October 30-November 18, 2006
A warm welcome and sold-out houses awaited the Orchestra on its trip to Japan and Korea. En route to the Far East, the Philharmonic stopped in California for two concerts in Costa Mesa, helping to inaugurate the new Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.

Masterpieces of architecture rang with music as the Philharmonic, led by Music Director Lorin Maazel, performed in venues ranging from Milan's 1778 Teatro alla Scala to Rome's space-age Parco della Musica, designed by Renzo Piano, which opened in 2004.

The 75th Anniversary Tour of Europe, Part II
November 7-21, 2005
The 75th Anniversary European Tour with Lorin Maazel celebrated the historic 1930 tour by the Orchestra with Arturo Toscanini. The highlight of Part II of the tour, in November 2005, was a series of three concerts at Dresden's Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), the Baroque masterpiece destroyed by Allied bombs at the end of World War II, which was rebuilt as the architectural and spiritual centerpiece of Dresden 50 years later.

The 75th Anniversary European Tour with Lorin Maazel celebrated the historic 1930 tour by the Orchestra with Arturo Toscanini. Part I of the tour, in September 2005, took the Orchestra to festivals in Germany and Switzerland.
